FTP Data Access

How to create your FTP Password in the Attune Portal and download sensor data with an FTP client such as FileZilla.

What you need

Contents

1. Create your FTP password in the portal

2. Connect with FileZilla

  • How it works. Your FTP username is the email address you use to sign in to the portal. The FTP password is separate from your portal password. You create it once from your profile page, and the portal shows it a single time. If you lose it, generate a new one; the old one stops working immediately.

Step One: Create your FTP password in the Attune Portal

  1. Sign in to https://portal.attuneiot.cloud. Click your initials in the top-right corner, then click Profile.

  2. On your profile page, find the FTP Access row and click Manage FTP credentials.

  3. The FTP Data Access page shows your FTP username. It is the same email address you use for the portal. Click Generate FTP password.

  4. The portal shows your new password. Click Copy and paste it into a password manager or another safe place right away.

NOTE: The password is shown once. In this guide it is replaced with dots. If you close or reload the page without copying it, there is no way to see it again. Click Regenerate password to get a new one. Regenerating replaces the old password immediately, so update any saved FTP client profile that still uses it.

  5. After you leave or reload the page it shows FTP password active with the creation date and when it was last used. From here you can Regenerate password to replace it, or Revoke to disable FTP access until you generate a new one.

NOTE: Regenerate replaces the password. Revoke turns FTP access off.

Step Two: Connect with FileZilla

  1. Download (if you do not already have it) and Open FileZilla. In the menu bar choose File, then Site Manager (shortcut Ctrl+S on Windows, Cmd+S on macOS).

  2. Click New site and give it a name, for example Attune FTP .

  3. On the General tab, fill in the fields exactly as below.

    • Protocol: FTP - File Transfer Protocol

    • Host: ftp.attuneiot.cloud

    • Port: 21 (or leave blank, 21 is the default)

    • Encryption: Use explicit FTP over TLS if available (recommended)

    • Logon Type: Normal

    • User: Your portal email address

    • Password: The FTP password from the portal

  4. On the Transfer Settings tab, set Transfer mode to Passive. The server only supports passive mode. Leave the connection limit unchecked.

  5. Click Connect. The first time, FileZilla shows an Unknown certificate dialog for ftp.attuneiot.cloud. The certificate is issued by Let's Encrypt. Check Always trust this certificate in future sessions and click OK.

  6. Once connected, the right-hand pane (Remote site) lists your data folders. Browse to the folder you want, then drag files to the left-hand pane (Local site) or right-click a file or folder and choose download. Progress appears in the transfer queue at the bottom.

Quickconnect: For a one-off connection you can skip the Site Manager. Enter the host, your email, the FTP password and port 21 in the Quickconnect bar at the top of the FileZilla window and click Quickconnect. FileZilla still uses TLS if the server offers it, but it does not save the password.

The FTP server is read-only. You can list and download files, but uploads, renames and deletes are rejected.
